It was training course in Malta, where 34 youth workers met and worked on topic about Superheroes concept. Youth workers came from: Malta, Romania, Turkey, Lithuania, Greece, Portugal, FYROM, Poland, Italy and Azerbaijan.
This project let to explore "Comics" as a technique and a non-formal tool of education to engage youth people and address their needs. This will equip youth workers with added skills, knowledge and competencies trough a number of objectives.
"Super Heroes" were exploring comics as a tool for youth work. The main phases and objectives of this training course are to:
1. Learn how to identify the needs of young people;
2. Explore and understand ‘Comics’ as a medium to send a message and attract a target audience;
3. Learn how to develop a main character for the comic as a means to an end;
4. Learn how to create a plot for a comic story to involve an audience;
5. Comprehend how comics can be utilized as a tool for youth workers/leaders and other educators with learning difficulties;
6. Explore and understand how the story line can be used to tackle a sensitive subjective whilst avoiding to identify oneself with the issue.
Great days of learning new things related to comics, drawing in non formal way and sharing our knowledge together with evenings fully devoted to socializing, dancing, ,chatting and learning about new cultures from other participants passed so quickly. We felt its really nice opportunity to master our skills, or just began to learn how to draw like Łukasz.
Also all participants who were there with me added a lot to value of this group. I met great, positively crazy people full of ideas, willing to cooperate and change the world around a bit.
